| Personal History | Born aboard the USS Phoebe, Megan was the only daughter to Thomas and Elizabeth Hawthorne. Both of her parents were only ensigns at the time and worked in Engineering. Therefore Megan was always brought up around Starship technology. In 2371, Megan managed to enter Starfleet Academy. After all, Starfleet was all that she knew. She was known aboard the Phoebe as a bright and 'bouncy' child, that took pleasure in making others smile. Of course she naturally went into the Engineering field. Even as a teenager she had done some studying into technology and engineering, however she hates studying. The Dominion War broke out in 2373, in her third year at the Academy. Megan was naturally worried for her parents who continue to serve in Starfleet. She often visited her ancestral home of England on Earth, and enjoyed travelling around the country taking in her ancestral culture. She even developed a slight Yorkshire accent, as she spent a lot of time visiting Yorkshire. She learnt that her family originally came from coastal town called Scarborough. Even though the Dominion War was raging on, it seemed so far away for Megan. Her parents weren't assigned to the Front Line. She graduated in 2375 with the rank of Ensign. Only a week after she graduated, Earth was attacked by The Breen. Megan was devestated, especially after they hit Starfleet Academy and Starfleet Headquarters. She was temporarily assigned to the rescue teams. She assisted with the other teams and people to dig up survivors, and those not so lucky from the wreckage over the next three weeks. After that, she was assigned aboard the Starship Thunderbird as an Engineering Officer. The Thunderbird was an Akira Class Starship and was assigned to the front lines along the Cardassian Border. The Thunderbird was within the fleet that took part in the Invasion of Cardassia which resulted in the Dominion Surrender. Megan stayed aboard the Thunderbird for the next three years, working alongside her fellow engineers. The Thunderbird was tasked with patrolling the new border between the former Cardassian Alliance and The Federation. On one mission, the Thunderbird was assigned to help a Cardassian Colony repair their water purifiers. Megan came up with a quick solution to repair them, which earned her a promotion to Lieutenant Junior Grade. After a year, she was put up for annual crew rotations. The Thunderbirds Chief Engineer has recognised her potential. Therefore she accepted a transfer to the USS Stardancer. There she took the position of the Assistant Chief Engineer. The Stardancer was a Steamrunner Class Starship that had been built after the War. It was the first time Megan had worked with Bio-Neural circutory and the new technology that was being incorporated into all new starship designs. She enjoyed her time aboard the Stardancer and was known to run her shifts as the shift lead with a sense of humour. She was also known to be fairly relaxed, allowing for a better working environment. However she did ensure that things got done correctly. Megan was well respected and liked by all of the Stardancer's Engineers. After six Years aboard the Stardancer, she was approached by the ships Captain, Captain Jameson. He had heard that a new Starship, the Starship Helvetia was looking for a Chief Engineer. If she wanted, he could reccomend her for the position. Megan agreed, she looked forward to seeing how far she could go and always enjoyed a new challenge. Luckily she was accepted and with a promotion to full Lieutenant assigned as the new Chief Engineer aboard the USS Helvetia. |
